The Dying Gaul (Daniel Copeland)

This is a collection of opinion pieces on things that happen to interest me, mostly social issues. I put them here because, due to my Asperger’s syndrome, I have a regrettable tendency to argue incessantly about the most abstruse matters at the most inappropriate moments. I talk like the Architect on The Matrix Reloaded. Really. So I’m going to put all those rants on this website instead, and hopefully I won’t annoy my friends as much. I’ll just say “Look, I’ve got a page about this on my website. Go look at it, OK?”

Mind you, I know full well that if you push a book or a website or whatever on somebody with the argument “You should read this, because it proves you’re wrong”, they never, ever do. But at least it’s there in the event that I do persuade someone I have something worth saying.

A six-part series of web-pages. Does God exist? Did he create life, or was it evolution? What’s the difference between right and wrong? What do we miss by not reading the Bible in context? Who was Jesus? And is there such a thing as sceptical spirituality? Complete with bibliography.

Nobody should have to wear clothes if they don’t want to. That’s what I think, anyway. This page explains why, starting with a cultural and historical perspective and moving on into contemporary social and psychological issues.

The history of the Celts and their speech in contact, and often in conflict, with non-Celtic people. This article grew from an essay I wrote for an anthropology class. It can also be found on the Otago University Highland & Gaelic Society’s site, at this address.

I draw pictures. You can see the ones that I think are good enough to share here on Elfwood (I haven’t got space to put them all on Zoomshare).
